Doula Care and Potential Impact on Maternal Health in Canada
You can find me over at Mothers of Change today where I am writing about the connection between doula care and maternal health. I see direct connections between making birth support available for all mothers, and an increase in positive maternal health outcomes. I am further suggesting that by making doula care an accessible and inclusive component of provincial health care, Canada would be saving large amounts of funds that are currently fleshing out the added costs found in intervention-heavy and surgical births. I am most interested in the issues around privilege and how birth support is rarely accessible to some of the most vulnerable women in our country.
But, enough! Head on over to Mothers of Change and read the piece for yourself.
