Fabric Eggs
Being a vegan family we have to be a bit more creative when it comes to egg crafts or egg-based art projects. I was inspired by recycled yarn eggs on The Long Thread, but decided to switch it up a bit and use some of quilting fabric that I had hanging around.
I think the most difficult part of this little bit of crafty goodness was getting the sweet spot in blowing up the balloon. Too big and it didn’t resemble an egg, not enough and it wasn’t strong enough to support the wrapping of the fabric.
The second I mentioned Mod Podge AND balloons – Aodhan was all in.
I cut the fabric into strips about 20 cms long and about 3 cms wide (but of course you can use your own discretion with this part). and added 2 tablespoons of water to about 1/4 cup of Mod Podge.
We dipped the fabric into the glue-y mix before applying it to the balloon form. I didn’t feel compelled to cover the balloon completely, I left some gaps and I am pretty happy with the results.
Aodhan did his own eggs and I did mine; we helped each other as we went along. For Aodhan, the most difficult part was trying to keep the fabric from twisting as he wrapped it.

Overall, a lovely craft that has added a little something to our toned-down spring decorating.
I am linking up to these egg-celent linky parties!
