Please continue reading to learn more about Kid Culture, which is offering our readers a giveaway of a PlayMeMama Family Set of Got Snot Hankies, a value of $24.

After spending many years creating and selling her jewellery from her shop in the heart of downtown Toronto, Clare felt inspired to work with the craft world from a slightly different angle, and from this decision, Kid Culture was born. With the eye of a museum curator, Clare has populated her eclectic space with designers, fashion artists and crafters from the Toronto area. Kid Culture is unique in the trendy Junction neighbourhood, offering a felty, quilted and colourful alternative among an array of industrial designers and reclaimed furniture shops. The bright green in the front of the building prepares the shopper for the unique world of crafts and clothes that await. Everything from diorama-inspired change purses and Toronto’s hottest underpants, to repurposed metal band t-shirts turned kid’s wear to vintage hockey image home decor.

This shop is also more than the many artists that Clare promotes, it is also Clare and her family who have in the last year become a part of the neighbourhood in a way that true community businesses are meant to. Clare hosts costume shops, invites designers to meet her shoppers and is always available to help you find the perfect gift.

One of the designers that Kid Culture sells is PlayMeMama Crafts, who had my heart when I noticed that she uses old cereal and granola bar boxes for price tags. Aodhan comes from a long and distinguished line of hankie users: his dear old granddad in England doesn’t leave home without a few tucked into his jacket pocket. When Aodhan was just a wee baby he was fascinated by his granddad’s nose blowing. The patterns on these lovelies put the British version to shame; the fabrics used by PlayMeMama are just stunning. Slightly retro, slightly vintage, slightly earthy – my pack of hankies couldn’t match my personality any better (because you always buy hankies to match your personality). The quilting grade cotton used to make the hankies definitely makes me feel that these squares of cotton can handle even the most robust nose blowing or cold season induced snot explosion.

To be honest, these hankies have a wider use. One need not stop at using these as just a pretty and resusuable snot rag. No, no. As a cloth wipe and diaper user, these hankies speak to my heart and have become my go-to take-along cloth when heading out and about. They are great for eating on the go (because no 3 year old can eat vegan ice cream without dripping a little bit) and the handwipes that are sometimes needed when traveling in Toronto’s underground. I love that they have been through multiple washes and have yet to fade or lose the strength in the fabric.

These would be a great stocking stuffer for a co-parent, or a gift for a mama-to-be. We highly recommend this product and hope that you will join the hankie revolution.
